A few weeks ago we were kindly sent out another game bundle from Ginger Fox games to review. We love games, of all kinds in this house so getting more to add to our collection was exciting. Last month I shared our review of Which One? & Cat Chaos which you can read here {incase you missed it!}. This month we will be sharing our thoughts on The Emoji Card game & Corks.
I’ll start with The Emoji card game. We love a good card game and after reading the instructions on how to play, we were keen to get started. The aim of the game is to collect a full set of emotions i.e. happy, angry, sad, excited etc. However – curve ball moment – other players might throw a few hindrances in your path to victory!
We found this game to be really funny and loads of fun to play. It’s for 3-6 players and aimed at children from 8yrs+. You have action cards e.g Spy – Choose any other player, look at their hand & swap a card of your choice with that player. Thumb war – Choose an opponent and battle for victory. The winner gets to swap one emoji card with any card from the discard pile – and so on! Drive-thru – You all now work in a fast food for one round. After everything you say, ask “Would you like fries with that?”. The first person to forget to say it discards their hand and gets five new emoji cards.
As I said, this game is lots of fun play and a real favourite with my 9 & 12yr old! RRP £8 and it’s available on Amazon.
The next game I have to share with you is Corks. Corks is a fun family card game for up to 14 players. There are also 3 ways to play this game e.g. Classic, Colour match & 5-lives Corks.
The game we prefer to play together is classic corks and the aim of that game is to collect a set of four cards of the same colour then you need to grab a cork before your opponents do. For example, if there was 5 of us playing, we would place 4 corks on the table. You can use any coloured cork for classic corks, except the golden one.
You then select a set of four cards of the same colour for each player – deal them face down in front of each player. The persona allocated the Corker {the game referee if you will} says “Go!” and every player discards a card of a colour that they don’t want to collect and place it face down in front of the player to their left. You then pick up the card to your right, that the player has discarded. The Corker says “Go!” once again and this is how the game continues until you collect a set of four matching cards.
Once you have a set of four of-the-same colour cards you can then take a cork from the centre of the table in whatever way you wish; casually, blatantly or stealthily. If other players spy you taking a cork all need to grab one themselves. The player who doesn’t grab a cork quick enough is eliminated from the game.
Corks RRP £15.00 and it quite enjoyable! We like that there are three different ways to play!
