About the Family Feud Board Game

The Family Feud Board Game can be played between 2-9 players and it is suitable for people aged 8 years old and above. It ensures maximum fun and participation for the entire family, and it also has an easy difficulty level, so you won’t have any trouble in understanding and playing it with your family and friends.

Family Feud board game runs for 20 to 30 minutes on a single game, and its gameplay is also similar to the Jeopardy card game, Taboo, Wheel of Fortune card game, or even Hedbanz.

Objective of Family Feud Board Game

If you have watched Family Feud, you would know that it is a show were contestants are asked several questions, and they get points based on each right answer. Similarly, the player or team that has the most correct answers in the board game wins the round eventually.

How to Set Up the Family Feud Board Game?

The Family Feud board game is best played with two teams, and each player can be sorted into one of the teams. However, you also need someone to fill in the shoes of Steve Harvey, i.e. the host of the game. Therefore, if you have an odd number of players, the last one left becomes the host. On the other hand, if you have an even number of players, one team will be short of a player.

Each team will have a captain, which will be mutually decided and will also set the team name. Each team will also get a pen and paper to use in the game. The host will shuffle the Fast Money cards and Face Off cards before the game starts.

Family Feud Board Game Rules and Gameplay

Before the game starts, the host has to explain the Face Off pad and Fast Money score pad to both teams, so that they fill it properly to be checked later. Plus, both teams have to maintain their score accurately. The host has to keep the game running by asking each team a question one by one.

Each Family Feud game has four rounds: three Face Off rounds and a final Fast Money round for bonus points. The team captains start the game, while each consecutive team member answers questions in the order they are sitting.

Face Off Rounds

The game starts with both captains ‘facing off’ against each other, and both of them have a buzzer that they need to press in order to answer the question first. Whichever captain guesses the top answer gets the chance to guess the other answers of that round first. If not, then the other team can guess the answers first.

Once this is done, the host determines how many correct answers a team needs to win the round, and they can start asking questions from the team that answered the first question correctly. The host receives an answer from each team member. If any team member gives an answer that isn’t written on the host’s cards, the team will get a strike, which is represented with an X on the scorecard.

If there are 3 X’s on a team’s scorecard, they will be out and the scores will be compared. The other team gets a chance to steal the round by providing one of the answers present on the host’s card. If they fail to do so, the team with the 3 X’s wins the round.

Fast Money Round

After three rounds of Face Off have been played, the Fast Money round is played. One player from each team is nominated for this round, and they can’t consult their team even. For this round, the host picks a card with five questions on it, and a player from both teams notes down their teammates answers as they are spoken.

The team leading the scoreboard is the first one to go, and players can’t have the same answer. The host starts a timer for 1 minute and reads out the questions as fast as possible. If the player gives an answer not present on the scorecard, the player can give it another go. Once the time limit ends, the host will tabulate the scores and reveal the winning team.

Family Feud Board Game Scoring

Each question card has an individual score written on it, which is awarded to the team that wins a specific round. Here is the scoring structure followed for the game.

· First Face Off Round – Normal Points

· Second Face Off Round – Double Points

· Third Face Off Round – Double Points

· Fast Money Bonus Round – Triple Points

When the four rounds have concluded, the host will calculate scores according to the aforementioned structure, and add up the scores to reveal the winner.
