The Quarters drinking game is one of the easiest drinking games out there. All you need is a cup and a few coins and you’re good to go. Below we list the original rules, optional rules and some fun quarters variations.
What You’ll Need To Play:
Quarters and a cup of beer. You’re also going to want a good flat surface to play on like a wood table.
This is an easy game to play. Simply try to bounce the quarter in the cup.
Official Quarters Drinking Game Rules:
A cup is placed in the center of the table and players take turns trying to bounce a quarter into the cup. If the player fails he must take a drink from his own drink. If he succeeds then he can force a player to drink the center cup with the quarter in it and then it becomes their turn.
There is many optional rules to this game to make it a little more interesting.
- Repeating turns rule: This is where whenever a player fails at getting the quarter in the cup then he drinks and shoots again. This means the only way to pass the quarter is to finally get it in the cup which becomes increasingly difficult with each drink.
- Extra shots rule: This is where a player is awarded and extra shot if he hits the rim of the cup.
- Miss and fill rule: Each missed shot results in pouring some of your own drink into the cup.
- 3 bounce variant: In this variant nobody drinks the center cup so it can instead be filled with water. Instead every time someone makes a shot they get to give a drink and go again. If they get 3 in a row they get to make a new game rule.
Ice Tray: In this variation you use an empty ice tray in the center instead of a cup. Much like in the regular game players take turns trying to bounce a quarter into the tray. First the ice tray is filled with beer and everyone is given a small stray. The goal is to land a quarter into an empty space in the tray. If you miss your shot you take a sip. If you land it into a spot without a quarter in it you can force an opponent to drink that space. Once all the spaces are drank then the game is done.
Irish Quarters: This variant is like quarters on steroids. A mug is placed in the center of the table and everyone has their own separate drink in front of them. Players take turns attempting to spin the quarter and chug their drink before it stops. If they accomplish that they can add some of their drink into the center cup. If they fail they must drink the center cup and try again until they get it.
Dimes: As the name implies this one is played with dimes instead of quarters. The objective of this game is to bounce your dime onto an overturned cup. Dimes doesn’t use turns so as soon as the game starts it’s a free for all to land your dime on the cup as quickly as possible. Whoever is the last player to get their dime on the cup must fill it up and drink it before the next round.
